Bolton's latest recruit from Madrid

Bolton have wrapped up the deal to sign 22-year-old Derik Osede from Real Madrid on a three-year deal - but he isn't the first player to sign for Bolton from the Madrid giants.

The likes of Ivan Campo, Fernando Hierro and Marcos Alonso all made the shock move to the North-West of England to play for Bolton Wanderers.

in 2010, Marcos Alonso joined Bolton whilst they were still in the top flight of English football but it's fair to say he didn't light up the Premier League in his time there. He amassed nine league games and one goal in two years before being sold to Fiorentina in May 2013. Last season he was sent out on loan to Sunderland to help them avoid relegation.

The former Spanish and Real Madrid captain Fernando Hierro became a cult hero at the then called Wanderers Stadium in his one season at the club. He didn't join directly from Real as he spent a season at Qatari outfit Al Rayyan but he teammed-up with Sam Allardyce for the 2004-2005 season. Hierro played 29 times and notched one goal in a 2-3 defeat to Norwich City.

The floppy-lidded Ivan Campo made the biggest impact at Bolton out of all the players who signed from Real Madrid. Campo found himself out of favour in Madrid and initially joined Bolton on loan in 2002 but he unexpectedly penned a three-year contact after admitting he would rather live in Bolton than Madrid - perhaps that got lost in translation but nevertheless, he went on to become a Bolton hero.

Campo's aggressive style saw him fit in nicely but in the 2006-2007 he topped the charts in an unwanted statistic of having the most yellow and red cards in the league. However, on the opening day of that very season, Campo struck a 43-yard pile-driver past England number one Paul Robinson prompting Big Sam to say that the goal of the season had been decided after just one match.

The newest recruit from Madrid to The Macron, Osede, has worked his way up from playing for Madrid B and Castilla as well as representing Spain at every level of the youth team despite his desire to play for Nigerian national team.

Osede is Neil Lennon's third summer singing as he joined former Man United 'keeper Ben Amos and deadly lower league striker Gary Madine from Sheffield Wednesday.
